Meridian Mayor Simison running for re-election

Robert Simison has been the Mayor of Meridian since 2019. His mission has been to ensure that the Meridian community is safe and focused on families.

At the State of the City address last week Mayor Simison addressed supporters in the community by highlighting the successes he has had the past three years he has been in office as well as what goals he is currently focused on.

Today during an event at the Generation Plaza in downtown Meridian Simison announced that he would be running for re-election.

“I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved. As I look around me, I’m excited for the plans we have in place. As I look ahead, I’m prepared for the work that needs to be done to meet our vision,” said Mayor Simison. “There is more to do in Meridian, and I remain up for the challenge of leading our City as Mayor.”

Some of the areas of focus for Mayor Simison over the past three years were making improvements to transportation such as the Linder overpass project, investing strategically in police and fire to bring more personnel to the area, as well as adding new fire stations and a new police precinct that will open later in 2023. He also worked to keep Meridian debt free through fiscally responsible, common-sense measures that have resulted in a thriving community.

"Mayor Simison has made strategic investments in public safety, transportation and our kids, ensuring Meridian continues to be a safe city with no debt and is a growing and thriving community," said former Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd. "I’m honored to serve as his Campaign Chair for his re-election as he works to keep Meridian safe, connected and thriving!"
